"Colorful White" in Prismacolor Color Pencil

White objects aren’t really white at all—
and that’s where careful observation begins!
In this workshop, Mark will guide you through a still-life project that reveals the hidden world of color inside everyday “white” items. Using the gentle glow of an old-fashioned lamp, cool porcelain, soft eggshells, and shining glass, you’ll learn how to spot the blues, violets, yellows, and warm neutrals that bring white surfaces to life.
Mark will show you how to build rich, convincing whites without heavy pressure or endless layering. You’ll explore temperature shifts, soft shadows, transparent curves, and reflective metal—all with a relaxed approach that keeps your pencils sharp and your strokes light.
Whether you’re just starting your colored pencil journey or you’ve been drawing for years, you’ll walk away with new ways to see, new ways to shade, and a deeper appreciation for the quiet beauty in simple objects.

There's a secret to creating color this intense...
...And Mark will share it with you in this workshop video!
In this video, Mark will lead you through creating lush leaves, stunning raindrops, and of course, those flowers! You’ll learn how to use red background paper to intensify color, the importance of applying tones in order, feathering edges, and blending and glazing to create these bright pink beauties. You’ll learn how to use different greens to achieve depth and fullness, with just a touch of white for highlights. Plus, you’ll also learn Mark’s formula for creating water drops on both flowers and leaves. All with only 16 colored pencils!
