Acrylic Projects
Below is a selection of my ACRYLIC PAINTING seminars. I only offer painting in acrylic for my "Travel Teaching Seminars". The students are required to bring the materials, unless otherwise indicated. I supply a materials list of for each project, and the projects pattern. The student will transfer the pattern onto the painting surface during class time. Complete step-by-step, full color instructions are provided for each student, as well as a full color reference photo.

Contrasting expressive knife strokes of the trees against the smooth, soft distant backdrop, this painting offers you a variety of new techniques to add to your skills as an oil painter. We will begin with traditional brush application, learning to create the illusion of depth and atmosphere with aerial perspective. After completing the distant mountains and tree-lined shore, we then take up the painting knife to add the rich texture and colorful fall vitality of the foreground trees.

This dramatic oil painting project will offer the beginning, intermediate or professional student my unique approach to rendering the brilliant, reflective sheen of fruit. Underpainting techniques, contrasting values, complimentary hues, and reflected light will be offered in an easy to understand manner.
Also available as a color pencil seminar. This seminar will awaken your mastering of the use of color. In this project, you will sharpen your skills in creating animal portraits, rendering feather texture, and creating a spectacular dawn sky. I will offer my easy-to-learn minimalist painting approach, and an insight into my color theory.

Every art student, in order to create successful paintings, must master the art of mixing color. In order to mix color, one must have a total understanding of color. An art student must not only the know the definition of the terms: primary, secondary, tertiary, complimentary, value, chroma, temperature, intensity, pigments, mediums, tint, tone, shade, harmony, and arrangement; but have a hands-on mastery of how to mix the exact color, every time. Bathed in warm afternoon light, floating upon the gentle blue ripples of the reflective water, few images can invoke such a sense of peace and tranquility than the beautiful white swan. In this Acrylic Painting Project, students will learn about reflection and the many "colors" in a white swan.
This beautiful apple is a perfect project for the first time painter, and can be done in either acrylic or oil. Students will learn Mark's 4-color Quadratone process, light and shadow, and achieving realism. It's painted on a 6x6 canvas.
